After 08 months since last December the joint research team of TASCHA (University of Washington) and VietSurvey has reached the final stage of the study on public libraries and communal post office in Vietnam sponsored by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. The team has taken a holistic approach covering venue user, alternative users, non-user and staff in the study which exposes the insights on the internet use and trends in Vietnam. We also retrieve through understanding and the dynamism of determinants to the internet use in different context and among various groups. Interesting findings and lessons learnt would be compiled to both literature on technology use/trends and the future technology based interventions and programs. Our team has worked hard and creatively in the last eight months surpassing mountains of difficulties to get the study done. We are grateful to all team members for their passion and learning attitudes and rigor to the procedure and protocol. Having deployed effectively the tablet based data collection package which enhance the survey and interviews monitoring and save data entry time, we are thankful to TASCHA team especially Araba, Maria and Huong for your guidance and support.
We would like to give special thank to the Project Management Unit staff, TASCHA team, local staff and local stakeholders in Ha Giang, Nghe An, Dak Nong, Tra Vinh provinces who provided us with great support and information. Given the first successful co-operation between TASCHA and VIETSURVEY, a long-term partnership in research and study are expected in the future.
