Our lead researcher Nhat Nguyen Duc together with Dr Neil McCulloch, Lead Economist of Australian Aid in Indonesia and Prof Edmund Malesky at Duke University just published their paper on the causality between the quality of economic governance and economic performance. Upon matching a panel of Vietnamese enterprises and a unique panel dataset of sub-national economic governance they try to explore the rules and link between various aspects of local governance and domestic private investment. Though the team do not find significant causality between the two, they do find impact of transparency to economic performance. Download paper here...
